Good basic analysis applicable to many other places in the US and Canada. Needs to be expanded to include the union movement's centrality in what should be a combined progressive fightback against attacks on working class rights on and off the job, climate disruption, shrinking healthcare, homelessness, imperialism, war-mongering, racism, sexist-heterosexist oppression, etc.--all of which issues fascists actively support.

It’s happening: the city of Albuquerque (population 1 million) is permanently eliminating public bus fares, becoming the largest US city to embrace this critical step toward racial and economic equity. A coalition headed by Together for Brothers – a community-organizing and power-building group led by and for young men of color – made the victory possible.

Most have chosen to completely ignore workers’ demands for paid sick days, putting public health and employee safety at risk.

In October, researchers at Statistics Canada released a troubling report on paid sick leave coverage. With the public health implications of the pandemic in mind, researchers compared workers’ access to paid sick leave between 1995 and 2022. The results were telling.

A new executive team is ready to take the reins at the Ontario Federation of Labour in a historic year for the labour movement.

Laura Walton, Ahmad Gaied and Jackie Taylor were elected president, secretary-treasurer and executive vice-president at the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) convention on Tuesday, November 21.
