Environmentalists say firm broke Dutch law by expanding its fossil fuel operations
A court in The Hague will hear claims that Royal Dutch Shell has broken Dutch law by knowingly hampering the global phase-out of fossil fuels, in a case that could force the company to reduce its CO2 emissions.
Young people from around the world, frustrated at yet another delay at the primary forum for global climate action, are creating their own legal document and asking world leaders to adopt it.

On Tuesday, Vancouver City Council passed an amended version of the recommendations of the October 22 report on the Climate Emergency Action Plan. Against the opposition of a number of NPA councillors on most points, the 370-page CEAP report was passed item by item at a vote late Tuesday evening.
VANCOUVER -- Protesters have organized another blockade in B.C.'s Lower Mainland while calling on Justin Trudeau's government to cancel the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.
The latest railway blockade was organized by the Extinction Rebellion, the same group of climate-focused activists responsible for shutting down the Burrard Street Bridge in downtown Vancouver last year and a number of other demonstrations in the region.
