Environmental protesters scored a major coup on October 7 in Vancouver. Their climate demonstration managed to lead all the late-night newscasts.

It’s because the Vancouver chapter of Extinction Rebellion peacefully blocked the Burrard Bridge to traffic all day and evening.

This was the group’s first major direct action in Vancouver and it was part of an “International Week of Rebellion” for the climate in more than 60 cities.

On September 27, workers across the world went out on strike in the largest global climate strike in history, walking out of their classrooms and workplaces to protest government inaction on climate change. This comes following the September 20 ‘School Strike for Climate’, which saw millions of young people and students in over 150 countries walk-out three days before the U.N.’s Climate Summit.

The B.C. government is ready to enact a new Environmental Assessment law that could go a long way toward protecting the environment when new mines and other industrial projects are proposed.

But all of it is worthless if companies continue to dodge the Environmental Assessment process altogether – and I’m afraid that’s why I’m writing to you today.

OTTAWA -- A British Columbia think tank asked the Conservatives on Thursday to either stop running a new anti-carbon tax ad, or remove the reference in it to Clean Energy Canada's research.

Dan Woynillowicz, policy director for Clean Energy Canada, says Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer's new ad misrepresents research done by the Simon Fraser University think tank.

"The information in the ad needs to be corrected, or it needs to be removed from circulation," said Woynillowicz.

Global Climate Strike - San Fransicso 2019

On 20 September [through to September 27], at the request of the young people who have been staging school strikes around the world, we’re walking out of our workplaces and homes to spend the day demanding action on the climate crisis, the greatest existential threat that all of us face. It’s a one-day climate strike, if you will – and it will not be the last. This is going to be the beginning of a week of action all over the world. And we hope to make it a turning point in history.
